TARMAC OPENS NEW READY-MIX PLANT ON WEST COAST
PLANT CITY, FL-Tarmac America, a subsidiary of Titan America-one of the premier cement producers in the eastern U.S.-held the official opening for an enclosed ready-mix concrete facility in Plant City on Florida's west coast. The celebration was held at the new facility, located at 2004 Dr. MLK Jr. Boulevard in Plant City.
Environmental responsibility was one of the most significant considerations in the building of the Plant City facility. Built from the ground up by Tarmac, the plant is completely enclosed-a design feature that helps to prevent dust and other particles from spilling into the surrounding environment.
Hardy Johnson, president of Titan America's Florida Business and Bob Sells, vice president of concrete sales, will be available for comment on the new facility and its environmental safeguards. Members of the local city hall and chamber of commerce and other civic dignitaries are expected to attend.
"We are proud to now offer Tarmac products and services on Florida's west coast," said Hardy Johnson. "The company is expanding steadily in that growing region and this new plant will enable us to meet the market's demand."
Earlier this year, Tarmac acquired two nearby independent ready mix concrete producers: Metro Redi-Mix Company and Elbrecht Concrete, Inc. (d/b/a Summit Ready Mix). Through this acquisition, Tarmac now serves Tampa/St. Petersburg and Ft. Myers with five ready mix plants. In April, Tarmac acquired Miami Valley Concrete based in Nokomis, near Venice, Florida, and, in addition to the Venice facility, now operates ready mix plants in Ellenton, Placida and Punta Gorda and a block plant also located in Placida.
